Toll-free verification (TFV), explained.
Toll-free numbers go through their own carrier registration path, separate from 10DLC. Here's what it covers.
Toll-free numbers (800, 888, 877, and similar) use a different registration path than local 10-digit numbers — carriers call it Toll-Free Verification (TFV). It exists for the same basic reason as 10DLC: confirming who's behind a number and how it'll be used, so carriers can deliver the traffic instead of filtering it.
A TFV submission covers your business details, a description of your use case, sample messages, and how recipients opt in. As carriers have tightened filtering over the past few years, unverified toll-free traffic has become increasingly likely to be throttled or blocked outright — verification isn't optional in practice anymore.
Toll-free is a good fit for businesses that want one number to cover multiple locations or a wider service area, and it can generally support higher message volume than a single local number. TextBox handles the TFV submission for toll-free customers the same way it handles 10DLC registration for local numbers.
